Uncle Sam wants you
to be an ARC Reader for an indie author ... hopefully me!
As inspired by the famous quote that inspired the title of the 1992 Aaron Sorkin film that was the military equivalent of To Kill A Mockingbird and helped establish the University of Sex, Mayhem, and Crayons (U.S.M.C.) (Est. 10 November 1775):
The indie author K.E. Bartlet, now banging her head against the wall to finish a different work, is facing a marketing challenge, as always; A few good people are wanted to make up her ARC [Advance Reader/Review Copy] reader team.
Original quote for anyone who’s interested:
"The Continental ship Providence, now lying at Boston, is bound on a short cruise, immediately; a few good men are wanted to make up her complement."
(Marine Captain William Jones, Providence Gazette, 20 March 1779.)
All kidding aside:
I really am in need of “A Few Good People” who would be up for:
Reading a prequel short / novella (27K words or 73 6 in x 9 in pages of story material from the start of the Prologue to the words “The End”)
Leaving an honest review on Amazon and / or Goodreads (preferably Amazon, since that’ll make the most impact on prospective readers)
The book comes out on June 2, the 108th anniversary of the legendary “Retreat, hell! We just got here.” during the Battle of Belleau Wood in World War I, from which the nickname “Teufel Hunden” or “Devil Dog” comes from in U.S. Marine Corps lore.
Reviews would be great on that date or shortly after, but I get that life gets busy. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in doing, but the timeline is too hard to make it work for you, just grab the ARC now and review when you can. I totally understand that …
Because no plan survives first contact with the enemy, a group of Marines has to choose: Vacation or Honor, Courage, Commitment.
